What does an idea discovery process owe a client when the honest answer is 'don't do this'?
An HR-tech platform, built for internal use, was being prepared for public launch. The brief was branding, positioning and go-to-market.
The discovery revealed a truth the brief hadn't asked about: the technology needed a full generational rebuild before it could compete. Every rupee spent on marketing would compound the debt.
Recommend shutting the platform down. Reallocate resources to the core, revenue-generating business. Return the launch budget.
A written, evidenced recommendation to discontinue the platform, with a migration plan for internal users and a business case for the reallocation.
The client accepted the recommendation. Called it the most valuable engagement they had commissioned that year — precisely because it did not become a campaign.
